Catered to your child's individual needs, the Elmo Room supports learning through different play activities. As part of your child's development, we encourage cooperative learning and group play in a safe and fun environment.

Cooperative learning in the Elmo Room for ages 2-3 years

Children at this age are always learning something new. Helping your child grow in many aspects is important to us. Playing independently is encouraged, but we also help your child learn to share and play cooperatively with his/her peers. This is done through many different mediums of play and learning, such as dramatic play, games, fine motor activities, block play and many more.

Preschool is Monday- Friday 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Preschool classes are designed so that your child learns, grows, and develops with the children that he/she will be going to Kindergarten with.

During preschool, the Elmo Room works hard to master the ability to start to identify and spell our name, understand calendar, engage in story time, music, shapes, count to 20, colors, painting, cutting, gluing, hands-on-math, as well as working on developing fine and gross motor skills. We make sure that learning is fun everyday by adding in special occasions such as dressing up in formal wear for the Valentine’s Day Dance, trying to catch the Leprechauns, hopping down the bunny trail with the Easter Bunny, dressing in costumes for a Halloween Costume Parade, and singing our hearts out for Santa Claus.

Your child’s teacher will prepare evaluations twice a year regarding the development of your child. This is a great way for parents to see how their child is developing socially, cognitively, and emotionally.

Communication in the Elmo Room is done with daily sheets. At drop off, you fill in your portion letting us know the last time your child ate, slept, and if he/she needs any medication. As the day goes on, our staff fills in your child’s eating times, nap lengths, diapering/potty times, as well as what they did during the day. Then, at the end of the day, the daily sheet is sent home with the child.

Spending time outside is important to children of all ages, the children go outside on a daily routine. The children enjoy the outside playground in all seasons.
