Your child's preschool learning will begin to take place in the Cookie Monster room. By helping your child build healthy habits and friendships with classmates, Sunrise Sunset Preschool & Childcare Center begin the process of helping your child transition to kindergarten.
Children in the Cookie Monster Room are starting to show their independence.
In this room, the teachers are working with your child the importance of picking up and putting away the toys they are playing with before they get new ones out.
This is also the start of your child’s education years for in this room is where preschool begins, also known as the stepping stones to the years of school.
Preschool is Monday - Friday 9:00 am -11:00 am. Preschool classes are designed so that your child learns, grows, and develops with the children that he / she will be going to Kindergarten with.
During preschool, the Cookie Monster Room works on the alphabet, engages in story time and music, practices reading calendar, learns colors, shapes, cutting, gluing, counting, simple math, reading, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and sharing. We make sure that learning is fun everyday by adding in special occasions such as dressing up in formal wear for the Valentine’s Day Dance, trying to catch the Leprechauns, hopping down the bunny trail with the Easter Bunny, dressing in costumes for a Halloween Costume Parade, and singing our hearts out for Santa Claus.
Your child’s teacher will prepare evaluations twice a year regarding the development of your child. This is a great way for parents to see how their child is developing socially, cognitively, and emotionally.
This is the room that children usually start potty training. As soon as you feel your child is ready to master potty training we work hard to make this step in your child's life fun and exciting. We are excited to be part of an important milestone for your child.
Communication in the Cookie Monster Room is done with daily sheets. At drop off, you fill in your portion letting us know the last time your child ate, slept, and if he / she needs any medication. As the day goes on, our staff fills in your child’s eating times, nap lengths, diapering / potty times, as well as what they did during the day. Then, at the end of the day, the daily sheet is sent home with the child.
The Center has a playground fenced for this age group, this allows the children to go outside and never be overrun by the other older children.
